LARRY BELL'S MINIMALIST MASTERWORK AT MOCA LA

June 15, 2021

Artist Larry Bell’s red, glass cubes at MOCA Los Angeles are a masterful use of color, materials and space. The artwork is titled “Bill and Coo at MOCA’s Nest.” It’s a site-specific artwork that’s a mesmerizing and magical work of contemporary minimalism at its finest.

Bell’s artwork comprises a series of cubes within cubes in a plaza that sits between a handful of skyscrapers, reflecting layers of light and creating an optical illusion where the viewer appears trapped inside an inner cube. The surrounding world is reflected in a red tint.

Brazilian Artist Lygia Pape's Sublime Installation Artwork at Hauser & Wirth LA

June 8, 2021

This immersive installation artwork titled “Tteia 1, C” is by pioneering Brazilian neo-concrete artist Lygia Pape. Comprised of hundreds of silver threads tied from floor to ceiling and bathed in light, the work forms two intersecting rhombus-like columns that seem to change form as the viewer’s angle of perspective shifts while walking around the artwork. The work is on view at Hauser and Wirth Los Angeles through August 2021.
